Okay okay, I know its been pretty sporadic with my posting and update schedule. But its time to get back on the horse plus I’ve missed my slugs the last couple of months. so its time to start updating twice a week…again. Plus I have a few iPhone games coming out with the spaceslugs. nothing fancy, but its cool to see them on mobile devices.

The other thing I’ve decided to do is cut way back on the social media time suck. I noticed that I had my hands in about 12-15 social media sites and I updated one here or there but there was no real consistency and my work was all over the place. So now the only 3 places you will see me @ is Twitter , I just love twitter way to much to give up that one. Spaceslugs.com where i’ll update the comic and blog and lastly google+. Still not sure on the google+ thing, so its still a testing ground.

So please start checking out spaceslugs again on Tuesday and Thursdays starting TOMMORROW!!

sorry guys i missed last Tuesday’s update, had a bunch of stuff come up. and the sad thing is in the coming weeks i’ll be headed out to LA for adobe max for week. I’m trying to get ahead of my update schedule so I won’t miss anything. But i’ll keep you updated. Its been pretty cool over the last couple of weeks the traffic as increased and i’ve been getting more and more comments, which always makes me want to work on the strip when that happens.

Doing a little redesign on the slug brothers, I was getting alittle bored with the current designs. Also after seeing the designs of shows like Fish Hooks and World Of Gumball I was like why not. Plus my boys had some input on their slug counterparts, which they thought was really cool.

DC Comics the first week.

Yea I know Justice League came out last week and I had to pick that up because of Jim Lee. I’m not a die hard DC fan so the reboot looks pretty cool to me. I can count how my DC books i’ve bought in the last five years on one hand. So here is a list of some of the one’s i’m looking forward too that are coming out this week.

MUST BUYS

Hawk and Dove – 3 Words “ROB FREAKING LIEFELD” whatever Rob draws I buy, period. He is the modern day Jack Kirby.
O.M.A.C. – Speaking of Jack Kirby, another character that he created. Plus its written by Keith Giffen, which i’m a fan

THE MAYBES

Swamp Thing – This is a DC character I’ve always wanted to buy, but i’ve never been into horror books. I’m more of a superhero fan so it just depends on how they write it. But protector of the earth just sounds cool.
Static Shock – Scott McDaniel is drawing this one, and I liked his stuff on nightwing back in the day. Plus it looks like its more of a animated version.

Do you want to help out cartoonist everywhere online? If you do then the answer is pretty simple just go to the site and click the ads that appear on the site. Typically they appear on the top, side and bottom. No you don’t have to buy anything or donate, it just takes all of 5 seconds out of your day to do it.

Now why would you waste 5 seconds of your day to do this? Simple. Every little bit helps. Am I going to run out and buy a house in Fiji with all the money I get from the clicks? no. But I might be able to pay for hosting or the domain name. Like I said every little bit helps.

In the coming weeks I’ll have a store where you can go and buy the first 100 strips or so in a PDF for .99 cents that you can read on your digital device. So thats pretty cool.

WOOT! I’m back! Sorry for last week, it was the first updates I missed since I started spaceslugs back in August. I need to get aleast a weeks worth of strips incase of emergences like this. But a huge shout out to Eric White who helped me out big time by doing a strip so I could catch up.

But the good news was when I was out in San Jose to my surprise I found out Wondercon was the same weekend. So I talked my brother into driving me up to San Francisco, and wow it was crazy. Never been to a Con that big before, shoulder to shoulder people all talking comics. Saw and meet a bunch of creators i’ve met over the years on twitter got some cool swag. Got a great little comic by Jason Martin called Yeti and grabbed a print of the cover too. Met my comic hero Erik Larsen and got a couple of sketches from him along with the Savage Dragon archives Vol 1 which was really cool. The nicest guys at the con had to be Ghostbot, if you your not familiar with them you need to be.

Anyway i’m back so updates Tuesdays and Thursdays plus got some cool ideas for the summer that I plan to do with Spaceslugs so stick around.

Step 1
The really rough sketch, most people have no idea what they’re looking at. heck most of the time i’m not even sure.

Step 2
Tight up the inks

Step 3
Colors! I color in Photoshop and just for this strip alone I had 18 layers just for all the different colors and highlights I was doing on it.

Step 4
Letters, I use indiestar @ 12 point and I just have a layer style for the balloons and that is just a 3 point stroke.
